Welcome

to Meadows Montessori – the bilingual Kindergarten

We are a bilingual (German / English) kindergarten, we work with and to the Montessori principles. Maria Montessori was a pioneer in early childhood educator and her guiding principles were "Help me to do it myself" and “The child should not adapt to the environment but we should adapt the environment to the child". More interesting information about this extraordinary woman can be found on our homepage under the link "Montessori".

We are a licensed Montessori (AMS and AMI) kindergarten and recognized by the Canton Zurich. We, like the public kindergartens, are bound by the curriculum of the Canton Zurich and must fulfill them. However, we attach great importance to the cognitive support of children as well as to social and emotional interactions in an environment prepared by the Montessori principles.

We are a social institution and are open to all confessions and religions.

We teach and care for children from the age of 3 to 6 years old and our doors are open from 7:30 to 18:00 Monday to Thursday and Friday 07:30-18:00. The children are individually and holistically encouraged, this is done in a loving, caring, family atmosphere.

Our fully qualified teachers are bilingual (German and English) and offer a learner experience in an environment by high Montessori quality. Our premises are equipped with materials that inspire, motivate and encourage children to have fun, which also facilitates learning. Our team consists of cheerful, committed, loving, qualified teachers who are motivated and love what they do.

We are open:
Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 6.00 pm

Key components of our mission

Goals & principles

Social pedagogical principles

One of our most important goals is to ensure the social, emotional, cognitive and motor development of each individual child, as well as the unfolding of independence, self-awareness and self-esteem.

The main focus of our activities is always the child. We regard it as our highest goal that the child feels safe and well-cared for in an atmosphere of security and well-being. In the first years of life, we lay the foundation for a healthy development. We would like to offer all children the best start-up opportunities.

The children learn respect in dealing with people, animals and nature / environment. Openness for one's own and other cultures is encouraged.

Nutrition is important to us

As a professional team working with children, we know how important food is, as well as where it comes from. We are supplied by an external catering company (menu and more), which provides lunch for the children. Our catering company uses local and seasonal products. The morning and afternoon snack consists of a healthy and balanced mixture of fruits and vegetables, which are light and suitable as intermediate meals and do not rob the children of the energy.

Educational guide Lines

We work according to the principles and methods of Maria Montessori.

This is our guide and our philosophy of how we work with the children. We believe that every child needs a stable and enriching environment to develop his/her personality, independence, critical thinking, and creative ways to express him/herself. At Meadows Montessori, the child learns to share his/her learning environment, and develop relationships, learn social behavior, and deal with conflicts. It is important to us that children develop freely and still learn to deal with rules and accept them. When dealing with the children, it is of paramount importance to us to accept every child as an independent personality and make him/her feel at home.

We achieve this by introducing daily routine and responding to the individual wishes and needs of the child. We can do this best by using an observing system, which is called SOUL, S = silent, O = observation, U = understanding, L = listening.

Working with you as parents is equally important to us. We spend a lot of time with your child and have a close relationship with them. A professional and open dialogue with you is important to us and helps both sides to offer the child an optimal environment so that the child can feel safe and accepted and therefore develop to their full potential.
